Roleplaying Rules v1.0 Empty Roleplaying Rules v1.0

Once you have created your character and all the customizations, you will be ready to roleplay. However, to keep everything organized and realistic, there are rules for different rules concerning how your roleplay character interacts with the world around it! Please take a second to look over the specifics of these rules.

-Any and all subjects created to roleplay are either 'private' or 'open'. Open topics anyone can come into, and private ones are restricted to the people that they choose. Private topics can only be made inside of Hidden Villages that you belong to, or buildings that you own. Outside of a hidden village or base, it is considered 'open' and others can jump into your topic. If you are a missing-nin, or shinobi on the wrong part of town, watch out, beause you will never know when you'll jump into a battle, or when a battle will find you.

-While post order isn't necessarily important in any other situation while in battle or in battle situation, for organizations sake, a post order must be made and maintained. In the event that a participant in a battle (either by force or by choice) is inactive for 48 hours after a battle has been declared without any word of their absence, the opponent can decide whether or not to kill the inactive member.

To prevent this, either tell the individual(s) over the C-box or via PM that you will be unable to post, or simply post in the away section. If you are planning on being away for extended periods of time, then please contact a staff member to void any current topics you are in.

Once a player is killed, any and all items on his person can be collected and salvaged. Some items are rare and thus valuable. They most likely took time and energy to create and earn and thus will continue to exist, even as their user or creature is defeated/killed.

You can choose to 'defeat' a character instead of kill them. In this event, the 'defeated' character will only be knocked out and most likely badly wounded by not killed. This is a preferred alternative to killing as with only one character per individual the loss of a well invested character is unfortunate; especially in higher ranks.

No God-Modding:There are many forms of god-modding. The most simple are forms of invinsibility or dodging any and all techniques of the opponent (auto-dodging). Other forms of god-modding are controling the actions of your opponent or claiming to automatically hit them. There is no technique that is completely unavoidable, but in the same sense, it is impossible to completely avoid everything with a simple dodge. To avoid this, simple state in each post what your character expects, and what would happen should the attack hit in different situations. By making it clear and simple as possible. you should be able to avoid these situations.

No Meta-gaming: Meta-gaming is the process in which a character knows something they shouldn't in the RP. Details are often dicuss in an RP for the understanding of the plot and situation. HOWEVER, many of these details will not be known by the character. Meta-gaming goes further then hidden details of battle. You cannot know specific details about locations of shinobi, their abilities, elements, etc., until you have experienced them in some RP format. This is a way to try and keep things as realistic to the naruto-verse as possible.

Metagaming Awareness-

To make it perfectly clear; in character and out of character are to be kept strictly separate. Any plotting or chat that takes place out of character, for example, the C-box, are to be kept there. One can be brought up on charges of Metagaming for events that are carried out due to planning in the C-box. Once in character, all OoC grudges, friendships etc., become null. Events don’t simply take place in character; for example a character wont just make a B-line toward another character randomly run into them and then decide to kill them as it is unrealistic. While the staff won’t be monitoring these situations, accusations will be taken very seriously along with punishment for those found guilty. These can be as serious as loosing ones characters, decrease in stats or even being banned.

In the case of finding ally and friends, it will be allowed to post ON THE FORUM in which this can be arranged; however this is the only exception to this rule.

Metagaming can also be considered as doing In character actions of Out of Character purposes, or having your character purposely act out of character (based on the characters personality).

Open with Causation-

With staff approval anything marked ‘private’ can be entered into by an otherwise intruder. One must, however, have causation to do so. For example, if you are traveling through a region or territory that has been made territory of a group or organization, then they can enter into your private topics. If you are trying to flee a battle, someone can still hunt you down. There are all kinds of reasons why private posts be made open, but as said, these must be approved by a member of the staff.

Be careful however, random things don’t just ‘happen’… to prevent silly mix ups, there is a metagaming rule instated to try and keep IC and OoC (In character and Out of Character) separate.

Handsign rule

Handsigns are a common and fundamental part of naruto and jutsu. Thus, unless stated in the description, all techniques that require wisdom, are assumed to require hand signs. Not only that, but all when using a technique IC, one must also state that hand signs were made The higher the rank, the more hand signs needed. This can be a deciding factor, as many a blow from a taijutsu technique will in most cases be faster then ones ability to form hand signs. If an individual uses a jutsu and fails to state that hand signs were used, then the other individual may ignore the use of the jutsu as if it never happened. This can be the deciding factor in a battle; don’t let it happen to you; use your hand signs.

Banned jutsu and concepts
This is a custom site, thus we try to keep it as strictly custom as possible. Consider any techniques that are specifically used by a single individual in the canon world of naruto as banned. Another jutsu that can be considered banned is the ‘Body Flicker’ technique, and variations. The site has a stat called ‘speed’ and if you want to move quickly then just toss a bunch of points into that stat. Too often are attacks dodged and engaged through the use of ‘flickering behind the opponent’ or ‘flickering away from the attack’. Instead of trying to manage this by limiting its use, it has simply been banned from use.

There are some concepts that are also limited such as time/space techniques, anything that allows instant movement from one place to another. “Psychic“ abilities such as Telekinesis or Telepathy. The always controversial ‘gravity’ based techniques will also be greatly nerfed, if allowed at all.

Techniques are also to be kept in the narutoverse. While the ‘transfer’ of character or concepts from other sources are allowed, they must be adapted to the rules of chakra. Unless exceptions are made; new forms of energy are not to be manipulated via ninjutsu, and thus are restricted to chakra, and it’s rules.

Also, while it is known that the idea of ‘spirits’ and ‘souls’ exist, they aren’t defined or elaborated upon. Any jutsu concerning any level of spiritual or soul based manipulation will be greatly restricted. Ideals of demons or otherworldly / different detentions will also be held in high judgment. Here, we want to try and keep the RP experience as balanced and as strictly naruto as possible; the sky is the limit, but in the same instance the limit is the sky!

Overkill: In the Naruto-verse, there is a form of varietable power known as 'chakra'. If you run out of chakra completely you will pass out from lack of enery on your body. Anything beyond that will lead to the death of you character. In battle, you continuously firing off and using multiple powerful attacks without noticable effect on your character is known as Overkill. Be careful, because Overkill might result in the termination of your character.

Winning/Losing a battle: In most cases, who wins or loses a battle is up to those in the battle itself. A good Roleplayer will know when they are beat, or when their character has been killed. However, in the case of a dispute, a staff member can determine the winner or loser of a fight at ANY point in a battle. In some situations, if both character have been found guilty of a violation of some sorts, both character can end up being killed. Or neutralized.

Rules of Death

In any 'open' subject, including travel and training posts, you are subject to being defeated in battle and thus killed. In the result of death, your default option is to create an E-ranked character.

However, by having a staff members approval, depending on the course of battle, activity, contribution to the site etc., You may be allowed to start out with more then just the normal 75 points to distribute. If one wants to voluntarily kill there character, they must do so in a 'staged death' where another active character kills your character in a battle. If the battle itself isn't of good quality, then a restriction will be placed on your next character.

If your character dies, you have the option of 're-incarnating' them. This is basically making a Genin character with all the same character details (Though looks, name, age, and jutsu restrictions will be changed.)
